Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara
Part of Estepona Reefs →About This Spot
Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara offers accessible shore diving along the Costa del Sol's western coastline. This sandy beach provides easy entry through shallow waters that gradually deepen toward a mixed terrain of sandy patches interspersed with scattered rock formations and small reefs. Divers typically encounter Mediterranean marine life including octopus, various wrasse species, damselfish, and occasional rays gliding over the sandy bottom. The rocky areas harbor colorful sponges, sea anemones, and small crustaceans hiding in crevices. Visibility ranges from 8-15 meters depending on weather conditions and season. The site works best during calm seas with minimal swell, making it ideal for beginners and training dives. Maximum depths reach approximately 15-18 meters offshore. Early morning dives often provide the clearest water before afternoon winds pick up. Park near the beach promenade and enter directly from the sand. Check local conditions before diving as westerly swells can create challenging surf entry. The nearby marina provides additional shelter during rougher weather periods.
