Playa del Pinillo
Part of Estepona Reefs →About This Spot
Playa del Pinillo offers an excellent shore diving experience along Marbella's coastline, perfect for beginners and intermediate divers seeking a relaxed underwater adventure. This sandy beach provides easy entry through shallow waters that gradually deepen toward rocky formations and seagrass meadows. The underwater terrain features scattered rock formations, sandy patches, and vibrant Posidonia meadows that create diverse microhabitats. Divers regularly encounter colorful Mediterranean species including wrasse, sea bream, octopus, and various nudibranchs. The site's relatively shallow maximum depth of 12-15 meters makes it ideal for training dives and underwater photography. Conditions are generally calm with good visibility ranging from 8-15 meters, though southerly winds can reduce clarity. The protected location ensures diveable conditions most days of the year. Visit early morning for the best visibility and fewer crowds. Parking can be challenging during summer months, so arrive early. The nearby beach bars and facilities make this an convenient spot for surface intervals between dives.
