About
### 🌸 Pink Flabellina in the Costa del Sol – Where to See This Stunning Nudibranch Near Estepona & Sotogrande The Pink Flabellina is one of the most beautiful nudibranchs in the Mediterranean, captivating divers along the Costa del Sol with its delicate, almost fairy-like appearance. Measuring just 2–4 cm, this tiny sea slug displays translucent pink to purple tones and elegant finger-like projections (cerata) that give it a soft, flowing silhouette underwater. Along the southern Spanish coastline, Pink Flabellinas can be found on dive sites around Estepona, Casares Coast, Sotogrande, and San Roque. They typically inhabit rocky reefs, vertical walls, overhangs, and algae-covered surfaces between 5 and 40 meters depth. Pink Flabellinas are slow-moving nudibranchs that feed mainly on hydroids, and are often found in small clusters when food is abundant. Around Estepona and Sotogrande, they are most commonly spotted on shaded reef sections and rocky structures where algae and hydroids grow. The best time to encounter them along the Costa del Sol is during calm conditions with good visibility, especially in early morning or late afternoon dives. Night dives around Casares and San Roque can also reveal more active individuals moving across the reef. For divers and macro photographers, the Pink Flabellina is a true highlight. Its soft coloration, elegant movement, and tiny size make it an ideal subject for close-up photography. Because they are slow and non-cryptic, they allow for careful observation without disturbance. Whether you’re diving near Sotogrande or exploring shallow reefs around Estepona, spotting a Pink Flabellina is always a magical moment and a perfect example of the hidden biodiversity of the Costa del Sol.
