Scuba Diving in August
on the Costa del Sol
Hottest month. 30–38°C air. Beaches packed. Diving is the best escape from the heat.
August is the hottest month on the Costa del Sol — and diving is the ultimate escape. While the beaches are packed and the air hits 38°C, you slip underwater into a refreshing 23–26°C paradise. A rashguard is genuinely all you need. August is our family month — parents bring kids for intro dives, grandparents snorkel while teenagers get PADI certified. The marine life is adapted to summer: barracuda hunt in massive schools, octopus are bold and photogenic, and flying fish occasionally break the surface as you enter the water. Visibility is the year's lowest (8–15m) due to peak plankton, but the water is alive — every dive is action-packed. This is our busiest month. Every slot fills. Book 3 weeks ahead or risk missing out entirely.
What to Expect in August
Peak everything: peak heat (30–38°C), peak water temperature (23–26°C), peak crowds. A rashguard with board shorts works perfectly — some divers go without any exposure protection. Visibility dips to 8–15m but fish life is at maximum. Night dives are incredible in August — the warm water means you can dive in a T-shirt after dark. Book as far ahead as possible. We add extra morning slots in August to meet demand.

August Diving FAQ
Do I need a wetsuit in August?
Not necessarily! Water is 23–26°C. A rashguard or thin shorty is enough. We provide everything — you choose your comfort level.
How far ahead should I book for August?
3 weeks minimum. August is our busiest month. Morning 08:00 slots sell out first. Weekdays have more availability than weekends.
Is diving safe in August heat?
Absolutely. Stay hydrated, dive early morning or evening, and the water itself is the perfect cooldown. We handle all the logistics — just show up.
Can my 10-year-old dive in August?
Yes! Kids aged 10+ love our intro dives (€120). August's warm water makes it the most comfortable month for young divers. Susanne is amazing with kids.
What about the crowds?
We keep groups to max 4 divers. Even in August, your dive feels exclusive. The coast may be crowded, but underwater it's just you, your guide, and the fish.
