November is for divers who love the sea without the circus. The water cools to 17–19°C — refreshing but far from cold in a 5mm wetsuit. Visibility remains good at 10–18m, and the marine life shifts to autumn mode. Cuttlefish are settling in for winter, nudibranch return in spectacular variety, and the octopus are at their most curious and interactive. November diving on the Costa del Sol feels like a private experience. Sites that host dozens of divers in summer are yours alone. Ludo treats November dives like personal expeditions — longer bottom times, more exploration, zero rush. If you're an experienced diver, this is when the Costa del Sol shows its true character. And for beginners brave enough to try? You'll have the most personalised intro dive experience possible.

What to Expect in November

Late autumn brings shorter days (sunset ~6pm) and cooler air (15–20°C). The water is 17–19°C — a 5mm suit is standard, 7mm for longer dives. Visibility is good to excellent. The coast is quiet — many seasonal businesses close, but we dive year-round. Groups are tiny (often just 2 divers + guide). Weather can be variable — flexibility on dates helps. Midweek is best for guaranteed calm conditions.

Best Dive Sites in November

📍 Casares — Salt Tower & Karst

Nudibranch season begins in earnest. The karst bottom is a macro wonderland. Sheltered from autumn swells.

📍 Estepona Reefs

Octopus behaviour in November is fascinating — they're active, curious, and photogenic. Often approach divers.

📍 Manilva Reefs

Protected bays offer calm conditions even when the open coast is rough. Great for training dives and nervous first-timers.

📍 Gibraltar

Fewer boats, calmer strait. Wreck visibility can be outstanding after calm spells. Worth the crossing.

November Diving FAQ

Is November too late for diving in Spain?

Not at all. Water is 17–19°C — warmer than UK summer! We dive year-round. November offers excellent conditions with zero crowds.

How many divers will be in my group?

In November, groups are typically 2–3 divers. It's almost a private dive experience. More time with your guide, more time underwater.

What do I need to bring?

Just swimwear and a towel. We provide everything: wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask, fins, weights, tank. Hot drinks after the dive are on us.

Is the PADI Open Water course available in November?

Yes. November is actually great for courses — small class sizes, focused instruction, and comfortable water temperature. Pool sessions available if you prefer a warm start.

Can I dive on a day trip from Málaga?

Absolutely. We're 1 hour from Málaga. With hotel pickup from Estepona/Casares, you can be diving by 09:00 and back by 14:00.
