March is when the Costa del Sol wakes up — above and below the surface. Water temperatures begin climbing from 14°C toward 16°C, and visibility can be spectacular, reaching 18 meters on good days. The combination of warming waters and excellent visibility makes March ideal for all levels. Beginners get calm, clear conditions for their first breath underwater. Certified divers enjoy the best of both worlds: winter's marine life diversity with spring's improving conditions. Seahorses are now regularly spotted in Sotogrande, and schools of barracuda start forming along the reefs. It's the perfect month to start your PADI certification — warm enough to be comfortable, quiet enough for personalised instruction.

What to Expect in March

March brings noticeably warmer days (15–20°C air) and calmer seas. Underwater, the transition from winter to spring means incredible diversity. A 5mm wetsuit works on warmer days, though 7mm is still comfortable. Visibility improves significantly, often hitting 15–18m. All our dive sites are accessible, including Gibraltar wreck dives. This is the start of our busiest booking period — reserve early.

Best Dive Sites in March

📍 Sotogrande & Gibraltar Bay

Seahorse season is in full swing. The seagrass meadows also host pipefish, cuttlefish, and occasionally torpedo rays. A magical dive site.

📍 Gibraltar — Camp Bay & Rosy Bay

Spring clarity makes the wrecks spectacular. Eagle rays patrol the sandy bottoms. Two-tank dive recommended to make the most of the crossing.

📍 Estepona Reefs

Schools of barracuda start forming along the rocky reefs. Combined with the resident octopus and moray eels, every dive is packed with encounters.

📍 Casares — Salt Tower & Karst

The karst bottom comes alive with colour as algae blooms begin. Nudibranch peak season continues. Our home site and always a favourite.
