Scuba Diving in October
on the Costa del Sol
Warm autumn. 20–26°C air. Occasional rain refreshes the coast. Water stays remarkably warm.
October surprises everyone. People assume diving season ends in September, but October delivers some of the year's best conditions. The water is still a comfortable 19–22°C — warmer than many summer destinations in northern Europe. Visibility is excellent at 12–22m as autumn clarity returns. Cuttlefish come back from deeper water, nudibranch reappear, and the reefs have a post-summer richness that rewards patient divers. October is also fantastic value — hotel prices drop, the coast is peaceful, and our dive groups are small and intimate. If you've been thinking about a dive trip to Spain but want to avoid crowds, October is your answer. Ludo particularly loves October diving — the conditions remind him of the best Mediterranean has to offer.
What to Expect in October
Autumn arrives gently. Air temperatures are pleasant at 20–26°C, with occasional rain that clears quickly. The water holds its summer warmth at 19–22°C — a 5mm wetsuit is comfortable. Visibility returns to spring-like excellence (12–22m). Cuttlefish and nudibranch reappear. Crowds are gone. This is relaxed, unhurried diving at its best. Book 1 week ahead — October rarely sells out but popular slots go first.
